Psychotherapy (Operating at Canadian Mindfulness Centre, next to Mindful BodyWorks)
Psychotherapy -- also called talk therapy, therapy, or counselling -- is a process focused on helping individuals heal and learn more constructive ways to deal with the problems or issues within their lives. It can also be a supportive process when going through a difficult period or under increased stress, such as transitioning to a new career, or relationship difficulties.
Psychotherapy is recommended whenever a person is confronted with a life, relationship, or work issue or a specific mental health problem, that can interfere with their daily functioning and cause an enormous amount of pain for more than a few days.
Treatment Approaches: We provide scientifically informed short-term and long-term treatments that include the following approaches:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to decrease psychiatric symptoms, and relapse prevention for problematic thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches (MBCT or MBSR) to help clients pay attention to present moment experiences in a way that is non-judgmental, open and compassionate in order for them to cope with stress, alleviate psychiatric symptoms and prevention of recurring symptoms.
